Small Business Saturday at The OC Mart Mix: Over 25 Owner Operated Shops & Dining Under One Roof

According to the American Express website, over 100 million people shopped locally last year during Small Business Saturday, which will be held this year on Saturday, November 24.  

A marketplace with over 25 owner-operated retail shops and dining under one roof, The OC Mart Mix (3313 Hyland Ave, Costa Mesa) is expecting this year to be bigger than ever.  The OC Mart Mix hours on Small Business Saturday will be 8am-8pm, and guests can expect live music, a Santa booth, Holiday photographer, specialty holiday drinks and sales throughout the center.

As Orange County’s answer to the Ferry Building in San Francisco, Sunset Magazine says “The OC Mart Mix is the best new reason to pull off the 405” calling it a “sweeping breath of fresh air”.  Southwest Airlines, in an issue of Spirit Magazine, said “aficionados of the offbeat, head back to Costa Mesa to visit The OC Mart Mix”.

Las Vegas (Summerlin), NV –View Wine Bar & Kitchen, the new urban kitchen at the heart of The Market LV located in Tivoli Village, will open Thursday, October 18 with the debut of their new headliner - homegrown, Las Vegas musician, Jack Higgins. The restaurant will open that evening for dinner at 6 p.m., with Jack’s first set kicking off at the same time. Following his debut, Higgins will perform live at View Wine Bar & Kitchen every Wednesday-Saturday.

“We looked far and wide for a entertainer to headline at View, and though Jack is currently a senior in high school we believe he is a true talent and a future star,” says owner and hospitality industry veteran Bill Feather. “Our complete entertainment concept for View is based upon providing a venue for up and coming performers to showcase their talent. We are excited to introduce the stars of tomorrow to our community and believe that their music will add a whole other dimension to the View dining experience.”

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Jack Higgins started playing music one weekend in middle school after finding a 76' martin bicentennial guitar in his Mom’s closet. His first lead gig was with his 8^th grade band “Blind Amusement", performing for school events and at his family’s restaurant. By the time he entered Las Vegas Academy high school, Jack had come to the realization that music was his passion. He began writing his own songs, inspired by some of the greats such as James Taylor, Hall and Oates and Kenny Loggins, joined the school’s highest choir, Academy Singers, and has explored a wide range of musical stylings throughout his time there.  Higgins also recently participated in a summer long music academy at UC Berkley College of Music and after winning a singer-songwriting competition and performed with Sally Taylor, daughter of James Taylor and Melissa Ferrick. He plans to bring his eclectic repertoire of original songs and covers to View giving his audience a chance to experience a wide range of musical genres from rap and pop to rock classics and even holiday favorites.
